Hi. I went to your school a few years ago. I wanna just say thank you for your time and wonderful teaching skills. A few weeks ago I was walking into work when a woman grabbed my ponytail from behind. Jumped in front of me and said, "Give me your bag" I said "no". She put a hatchet in my face and said "I mean it, give me the bag." I said no. She swung the hatchet at my head and all my training immediately kicked in. I blocked the hatchet with my left arm and popped her in the face with my right hand. We went round and round. She didn't wanna let go of the hatchet which kept her close enough to me for me to give her a good whooping. She left crying and bleeding, talking about "give me my hatchet back." Thank you for teaching me how to handle myself in that kind of situation. Jodi Powers 💖
My 3 kids, now 14, 12, and 8, have been going here for almost 2 years. They've worked hard, had so much success, gained skills I couldn't have taught them otherwise, and made great friends too.
When we first walked in to try it out, I was pretty skeptical having come from one super relaxed dojang where the kids didn't advance and having scoped out 2 others that were franchises asking for lengthy contracts before the kids were even allowed to try it out. The feel at Dragon Brand was different though. Not a franchise and the instructors show genuine interest in each of the students.
When I moved from another state to OR, I wanted to continue my Taekwondo training ,but was sure I would never find a school as amazing as the one I had to leave behind. I wanted a school that was small enough that I didn't get " lost" in a sea of thousands of students yet still had the space and goals to continue growing . Knowing no one in the area, I happened to be driving by and noticed the signs and the school tucked into a warehouse area. I jotted down the number and gave them a call. Within a day I got a call back from Master King inviting me to come to the school and watch a class. When I went to observe a class later that week, I was greeted by Master King & a friendly group of adults getting ready for their adult class , even urging me to come on out and join class. I didn't and chose to just watch and chat with one of the instructors. Fast forward to a year later and that group of adults have become some of my favorite people and good friends. The owners are family focused . Master Buffington, his wife and 2 daughters are all black belts and are welcoming, helpful and knowlegable.
The classes are challenging yet designed to accommodate all levels from beginner to advanced. There is so much support from fellow classmates that you really feel a part of something from day one. If you have always wanted to try martial arts, give Dragon Brand Martial Arts a try. If you are going to sweat and work out, you might as well make it fun and interesting!
